Gluten Ataxia

What is Gluten Ataxia?   Celiac Disease of the Brain    TtG6

Cerebellar ataxias may develop through immune-mediated mechanisms.

Gluten reactions involve an immune response toward transglutaminase (TG).  Transgllutaminase is a family of enzymes. tTG2 is expressed in the small intestine as celiac disease; tTG3 is expressed in the skin as dermatitis herpetiformis and tTG6 is expressed in the brain as gluten ataxia

Gluten ataxia is slower to respond to the gluten-free food plan than celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis.
